Challenge a copywriter today
I like words.
I like playing word games.
Other people don't like playing word games with me.
It starts off innocently enough. Shall we play a game or two of Scrabble? Sure, let's. You have to pick the tiles out of the bag at random, so how difficult can it be? It's almost as if we're putting Kady at a disadvantage from the start.
First player goes. 18 points.
Second player goes. 13 points.
I take my go. 72 points, ta very much.
There aren't many people brave enough to play Scrabble with me any more.
With games like Articulate!, it's the same story. Working with synonyms every week makes it easier to describe things. And to do it quickly, while the fake sand trickles down the inside of the timer.
It's a shame.
I admit that there are plenty of games that I get very competitive at. They're not just word games, either. I'm a mean bowler and a reckless bumper car driver.
Possibly the only types of game I don't excel at are the ones that involve running, throwing, or accurate targeting. If you ever team up with me on Time Crisis, we're going to lose.
Sometimes, though, it's not about the game. It's less to do with how many 'E' tiles I have on my rack, and more to do with how much we laughed when someone tried to play 'FAQ' as a noun. I play to win - most of the time - but I like having a giggle on the way there.
I always appreciate when a friend is kind enough to let me steamroller everyone, whether I do that intentionally or by sheer luck of the draw.
If you know a copywriter, you should try to encourage them to do battle with you. Sure, once we hit our stride you might as well skip every round, but you'd be doing us a favour.
